Greg, what do you mean 'the hinge to be rounded out where the pin passes through' ? can you show this on a picture.

I don't like either of them. The hinge looks to be cast as part of the badge as well as the catch plates. The catches themselves look unlike any catch I have ever seen, trying to be a "C" catch but not quite.

        Greg,
Yes the hinge and pin do seem to look strange.

Hi Den, here is the areas I am talking about. I may be wrong but for me I would not have either of these in my collection.

            Hinge of PAB

Closeup of the hinge on the PAB, I think you can see the solder that is holding it on.

              Hi Dennis,

Stay away from these badges, IMO they are rather poor cast copies. here is a pic of a RS PAB with an identical hinge constuction. Also notice the weird shape of the bottom part of the "S". Although my pic is't very good you can clearly reognize that it has the same problem.

Looking at the close ups you have provided of the hinges, it does look like they may be cast in and made to appear like typical folded hinges. If they were cast that would explain the rounding of the hinge where the pin passes through it.

At the start of the thread I was tending towards good and wondered what was up with Greg.

The pics in post 20 make perfectly clear that these are cast copys and most definatly bad.

Blurry pics can be damm deceiving sometimes.

I am surprized nobody detected the casting line on pic 6 on the IAB, it******180;s clearly visible. Besides this i also got hung up on the hinge as Greg did.

                    Just my 2 cents

you guys are late. I'm surprised these lasted as long as they did. Even on the crappy pics first posted you could see the catch/catchplates were wrong.

Indeed, upon futher review and the better picture I would have to agree with the consenus that these are cast copies. The fuzzy pictures were misleading.

                            Thanks everyone.

Well I want to thank everyone who took the time to look at these and ofter opinions. I was unsure and now feel that these are not ones I want to have in my collection either. I hope others who will see badges like this in the future will be able to steer clear. I will retake the pictures and add them to the fake badges to gallery thread they belong in. Very nice to have such great input from everyone.
                            Thanks,
                            Dennis GT

Sorry Dennis. We all have felt this before. You always have your PABs to make you feel better.
