    Scott,
that's because this is not "oval" crimp. Your badge is "pillow" type of crimp.

Thanks Scott, but as Robert says your IAB is the pillow crimped one.

That will be a nice addition to your collection. It seems that the bronze versions of this maker held their finish quite well. Every example that I have seen has been in very good shape.

        Thanks Chet

I know of a certain hollow bronze in your own collection that would be a very nice addition to my collection as well. I think you know which one i am refering to

            Hi Hans......

......here is a silver badge(same maker), that I previously owned. It has a variant crimping method. It is vertically crimped as opposed to what I would consider horizontally crimped, as yours shows.

The give-away on these being in the same family is the distorted oak leaf just above the rifle butt. There may have been some experimentation going on perhaps?

                  Thanks Indy...

I am very pleased with these twins because the finishes have kept well and as far as I am concerned the bronze finish is nearly complete and such a nice colour.

Indy - I wondered if everybody was still on the wine after xmas because it took until post #22 for it to get mentioned how nice mine were Lets hope guys sober up after the festive period....

Bruce - That distorted oak leaf is a great "pointer", I had not picked up on that before. Thanks

                  cheers

                    Hans and Graeme:

These are wonderful oval crimped IAB examples. I'd be very happy with any of them. Keep posting these hot IAB threads guys!! Graeme......it wasn't the wine....it was the Baileys & Coffee that delayed the oohhing and aahhing over these prime pieces

Bruce posted his vertical oblong crimped IAB (great looker by the way) and mentioned the distorted oak leaf characteristic found on these examples.

As Philippe mentioned, this badge comes with many setups. One of these is the early sunken hinge - half moon catchplate variation. You can see this oakleaf trait shared on it as well.
