                    Hi Graeme,

Well what is there to say, both are textbook originals and IMO by far the nicest Assmann IAB's ever made.

Does anybody own a buntmetall hollow Assmann. From memory I don't think they exist like it seems to be the case with the PAB and GAB from Assmann.

This would indicate that Assmann entered the game of mass produced combat badges a bit later in the war. Based upon their LW badges they for sure knew how to handle more precious materials but apart from steel never seemed to have used anything else than zinc on Heer combat awards.

                        Graeme:

What a treat......and a nice break from the CLTB thread.

Not one, but two of these elusive hollow Assmann IABs. Sincere congratulations are in order.

Does this mean you now have three? The photo of the hollow Assmann IAB you sent me a while back did not appear to be as nicely conditioned as this pair.

Thanks for sharing these well photographed examples. I hope to add one of these to my collection someday.

                        Happy Holidays

                          Thanks for the nice comments.

Philippe - I agree probably the nicest Assman IAB, although I do like the bronze cast mold numbered badges, certainly nicer than the rough finished solid thats for sure.

Robert - Secret lake . All the badges have been caught, it would be a waste of your time taking a trip...

Dennis - I think the pic I sent you before must have been one of these. I do have another but it is the following badge which I am sure I did not send to you.

I would definitely like opinions on the following badge regarding the finish. I have never seen a bronze one of these and in fact this ranges from brown to red. In places it feels like a painted finish and in others it feels good. I have no idea if this was done at a later stage or at the time when it was made. The badge is definitely original, it is just the finish that is weird?
                          Give me your 2 cents......

                          regards

                          Graeme
