    W. Hobachter Wien Question

    Hi All,
Does anyone know if W.H. Wien could stand for this maker?
I have a badge that is marked this way and some of the threads I have seen say W. H. is for Walter & Henlein, but they are not from Wien so the badge is fake. However if it could be for W. Hobachter Wien, then the badge is real. Any comments? I really need to know what you think.
    Thanks,Terry K.

    Hi Terry,
I don't know which badge you have, but if it's a Heer Flak Badge and it's marked W.H. WIEN I would be almost positive it's a fake - These came out some years ago with a heavy silvered finish ( like paint ) covering even the hinge, pin, and catch. Even the metal is not close to being correct, sort of a white metal under the finish. If not the flak badge, I would be curious to know which badge you have with this mark.

      Hi Eric,
Yes it is a flak badge. It really looks good too that's what sucks. The detail is great, but it has reminents of the wash you talk about and the pin and catch and hinge are brass? Man it really looks good to me. Thanks

        Careful

While the odds are it is an example of the widely produced fake dating back to the 90s--there are real ones. I've personally handled two, seen a number more (though I do not own one). I think some of the other Forum members have at least photos of a good one.
