I must say that the more I look at this badge, the worse I feel about it being original. At a first glance, you might think that this could be the design of unknown maker #8. But what stands out to me is the lack the final inside feathering on the obverse and possible pitting on the grenade handle.

On the reverse in the cut-out design on the top left and the metal ridges along most of the other cut-outs. I feel that this badge is Reproduction #14.

I would wait to see what others have to say.

            Hi Thomas,

It's neither of the badge you mentioned.

Pal's GAB is an original #8 featured in Franks book on page 274.

Yes, I originally look at that one but still came up with the same questions about the last inside feathering on the obverse and the top left cut-out on the reverse.

I hope that it is the #7 on page 274!

                Hi guys,

Bax, is that a small "w" on the reverse near the hinge or are my eyes going crazy??

                Tom D.
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Tom, there is something there but it for sure can't be a small "w"

That should be the one, the feather problem might be a weak strike result. Does the catch open to the left or to the right?
                    Cheers, Frank

                      Hi,

Thanks a lot for all comments. I am not into this field so I am alearning a lot here.

I will try to answer some of the questions:
Someone has marked the badge with HI (it is not a W) with a needle or other sharp tool. I have enclosed a new scan as I do not know the definition on a left/right open catch.............

Thanks for the additional pic. With the catch opening to the left, it would fall inline with the unknown maker #7 as Frank and Philippe stated.
