    Combat Clasp

    Hi All.
I have a question. Were private purchase Combat clasps produced ? And if so was the quality different at all (I am talking the silver and gold versions!). Also what boxes were they issued in.
I have a superb quality F&BL clasp which is very fine in detail. Also, does anyone know what the firms logo was??

    Hello Richard,

Not sure if private purchase clasps were available? It makes sense that they would be. As for which manufacturer made them, maybe all regular manufacturers. I have seen grey 'cardboard' style small boxes, with the staples on the corners. They boxes were marked with 'Nahkampfspange' and the color and Class of the award, I believe. The cardboard boxes are fairly rare, these days.

The Presentation Nahkampfspange In Gold was manufactured by C.E. Juncker (not really a surprise!). The metal was Tombak. The badge was gilt plated. It was not maker marked. The award was issued in an Etui. Whether or not a (standard) Gilted zink clasp was ever 'presented' by Hitler, Himmler, or Guderian is unknown to me. Personally, I don't think so.

Lots of fakes of these presentation clasps abound.

    Best regards,
    Mark

Thanks for that. These combat clasps are a learning curve for me. Is there anywhere ( a site ) that shows all known fakes of these.
