          Idunno what happened to it Greg,,,but it looks period If its what I think happened "ouch" Unless someone purposely wrenched the leaf off. Sometimes you get a "feeling" off pieces and this one really speaks.

            Hi Dion, this is not uncommon i have found a few period photos with soldiers wearing there awards with exactly the same break. Could be a pressure break from when the wearing was lying on the ground. Just a thought. All the best

                That leading edge looks like it was melted. Now that is a mystery!!

                  You are spot on Al..The scan really didnt show that it was melted. The breaking point on the wreath which is twisted inwards shows evidence of heat.
