    help identify this GAB

I was cross checking my GAB's against Frank's book and the very first one I got a few years ago (which is unmarked) doesn't seem to fit. It looks to be an F&R tombak (GAB.5.1) but the catch does not match and the pin is not pointy among other details. The book's repro section doesn't detail the F&R fakes' catch but it may very well fit there. I look forward to hearing your thoughts. I'm attaching the picture and linking to high resolution image.

    Hi Tony,

    Very nice Porsche GAB

It's featured in Franks book but I don't know the type number from memory. Keep looking I'm sure you'll find it

            Search and you will find!
I would be very surprised if anybody can show me a GAB type which is not in the book.

            @Darrell:
            • Identify and compare your collection’s GABs with 52 types of known and 38 types of unknown manufacturers all catalogued in this volume!
            • Find out about 7 previously unidentified makers!
            • Admire 13 types of the precious, numbered General Assault Badges!
            Cheers, Frank

              got it!

I don't know how I missed that one..but there it is. I think I was looking for tombak and this one in the book is listed as zinc but Frank carefully explains that some received a tombak coating.

good to know it's a 'Porsche'.

              thank you guys!!

That is the only info I could not supply for obvious reasons!
But what I will do is give other badges in subsequent volumes the same type numbers whenever possible, meaning that the "Porsche" unknown maker PAB will correspond to the number of the "Porsche" GAB.
                Cheers, Frank

                  VETO VETO

Hé Frank that would mean that the Porsche PAB would become "UNKNOWN MAKER NUMBER 6"

IMO it can't be but "unknown maker number 1"

Well only one thing to do to prevent this from ever happening, find out who the maker was before the book hits the presses

Frank's book is really jam packed with information. I'm hoping to familiarize myself with (memorize) as many specific badge features as I can before the SOS show in February.......Its like being in college again, although I personally don't remember the coursework being this enjoyable. Hey, at least now I'm going to "class".
