before and after... silver L53 PAB

    Hi guys,
I found this PAB for sale last week and I just wanted to show the before and after pictures of it.Seller said it had a very small maker mark that looked like L53. As you can see from the first picture ( sellers) it's not a very good one! However based on the location of the maker mark and the unmistakable crimping around the catch I decided to buy it. Also from the very out of focus picture you can tell that the hinge is probably f--ked up

The PAB arrived today so I took some scans of it the rare little bugger. In reality the badge is much lighter in color and has that very attractive frosted look to it.
It's a very heavy badge weighting in at 35.4 grams and measures 41mm by 60.5mm. Anyway..it looks good to me and I plan on keeping it unless you guys tell me otherwise. I found this one in the USA and only cost me 145.00. The hinge has been repaired but doesn't seem to distract from the badge that much. What do you guys think
    Sincerely..Dan

            Levesque,
It is absolutely "steal" (even with the repaired hinge). Congratulations on the fine addition to your collection!
@Scott, very nice example as well!

                Levesque,
Something terrible happened to the hinge, that's for sure, but your badge still features some very specific Hymmen details. In my opinion there are no reasons to worry about your badge authenticity.

Dan my Friend, congrats on a wonderfull addition to your collectionn never mind the repair, this is a very rare PAB and besides the repaired hinge its in very nice condition. If I had to opportunity I would gladly ad it to my collection any day.

What you found is the heavy solid Hymmen with mm in central position and crimped hinge and catch. There is a second variant with mm on the back of the swas, scooped out wreath and only one crimp on the catch.

Here are the measurements of my heavy bronze example

                    W 34,8 grams
                    H 60,1 mm
                    W 41,2 mm

                              Hi Phil,

This is the same type as those two mini's we bought in Berlin that time, L 53 drooping barrel right ?

I saw one of these on a UK web site for 90 pounds, I didn't really take much notice as the condition was fair, but is was maker marked and bronze........it's sold now, but these are rare are they....sod, damn and bugger it eh !!!

Are you aware if they fake these though, as the pin was different, I'm 101% sure is was an L/53 because of the name (don't ask) and the fact if it had been in silver it would have been a buddy for the stick pin like we got.

                              Kr

                              Marcus
