    unmarked IAB - opinion, please

    Sirs,

How you think this unmarked IAB the original?
I ask because I wish to buy it.
    Thank.

    Hi Ostbat,

Original by an unknown maker. One out of two IAB types where the contours of the K98 are visible in the cut-out between rifle and swas.

This IAB is probably from the unknown maker "OM".
        Best regards, Andreas

Yes and no. ONE example of this IAB is known bearing the OM mark. On the other hand also ONE example of an IAB of a totally different design is known bearing the SAME OM mark. Both are obviously original with marks original to the badges.

Now which one is the OM IAB? Both? Or maybe none of the two were actually made by OM and OM just "bought" badges from other makers and added their mark?
          Cheers, Frank

Hard to say. Perhaps 2 different dies ?

I don't know it. We have the problem that we have never seen one of those different designed badges with another maker mark than OM. If OM bought from another maker, there would be a chance that we had allready encountered a marked version of the real maker.

            Still many question marks left.
            Best regards, Andreas

              Hi Guys,

Think I must have missed something. I have never seen the type posted by Ostbat with an OM mm? Any pics arround?

I'm with Philippe on this one........I'm definitely confused. The one Philippe shows is the design I thought was OM, I have never seen a badge like the one that started this thread that is marked with OM .

There is ONE of each kind, both stamped OM. It is confusing, but fact.

Well that is one I must have missed.

Question is is this just a coincidence. Of all IAB's the OM mark appears on the two variants with visible contours in the cut-out between K98 and swas.

Thanks AK. This also is a badge from Yuri's article, only ever noticed the other one

                            Bizar to say the least.

Maybe Yuri can tell us if these 2 OM marked IAB's came out of one and the same collection and if there is a story involved here

Well Just saw that they both ar from Tim Curley's collection. The two known OM's residing in one collection, this can't be a coincidence. There has to be a story.

                              Are you arround Tim?
