A pair of unmarked assualt badges

I just flew in from San Diego and boy are my arms tired. But the good news is these were waiting for me when I got home. Both advertised as "unmarked" and sold as such.

Looks to have been painted at some time. I'll have to ponder this for a bit......

          Nice catch of Wurster´s Don
          Regards

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

            Hi Don,

            Nice badges both of them.

I wonder though where the PAB spend the better part of the last 60 years. The only finish these badges ever received was a dark chocolate toned wash over the buntmetall. On this badge we see finish remains which look almost gold

The yellow buntmetall that turned completely dark is something I have only ever seen on grounddug badges.

Anyway a very nice example with tons of character

This is the second unmarked Panzer badge that I've seen with gold gilt paint on it.A relic hunter found one at the old German P.O.W. prison camp on Ashley River Road,Charleston,S.C.
This small camp housed Afrika Korps prisoners.I sold this gilt badge to a well known dealer in Marietta,Ga. and will see if,by any chance,he still has it.

Just for the reference, this badge is marked with the small “w” in the left upper “corner”. Please check my picture for details.
Ps. Very nice additions to your collection Don. Congratulations.

                  Don,
I sure would like to know the story on the PAB. Nice finds on your part.

Thanks guys. I have a plan for this PAB. Remember the "G" marked PAB....

Are you going to breed them and see if they come up with a "GW" marked offspring?

I was also fortunate enough to purchase small w marked PAB and GAB as unmarked several years ago!
