    Hello Philiipe,

when we discussed about this type of badge a year ago for the first time in this forum we thought about L/53 caused by the <!--StartFragment -->unique rectangular hinge plate and i saved a picture of this IAB namend "L 53 WAF"

But we can call it a "second pattern Daisy" if this is the better way to identify it - no problem.
    Best regards, Andreas

      Hi Ak,

I think I'm as eager as you are to find out who possibly could have made these IAB's but at this moment the 2 pattern Daisy IMHO is the best guess for the following reasons:

1 Starting with the buntmetall badges the set-up evolution only runs completely parallel when compared to the 2 pattern daisy and only partial in paralell with the Hymmen

2.As is the case with the 2 pat. Daisy these badges only seem to exist as hollow variants. The solid Hymmen although close in design isn't a perfect match.

At least for me there is no doubt that who ever made the Daisy PAB/IAB somehow knew or worked together with Hymmen and most likely was based in Lüdenscheid.

When you look at the PAB families the 1 & 2 pattern Daisy, The Hymmen and the FCL belong together. Both FCL and Hymmen were Lüdenscheid based companies so chances are real that the Daisy maker also was active in that area.

        Hello Philippe,

i agree. If we compare the head of the classic Daisy with this 2nd Daisy than we can see that they are twins. Ok, they are ugly ones but not as ugly as the semi-hollow L/53 IAB and so the affinity from the 2nd Daisy to the classic Daisy is more probable.
        Best regards, Andreas

          Hi Ak,

In the meantime I arrived home and this is the only L/53 buntmetall hollow IAB I have in my files. As you can see the design matches the one we know from the solid zinker.

Hope the owner doesn't mind me using this picture.

And here is how I believe the others match.

1 pattern to the left, second pattern to the right.

Just like with the IAB's the PAB's are very close but no match and all of them are very close again to the Hymmen production.

                  Hello Philippe,

it seems that your left and right daisy has no break between the swaz and the rifle. Is our IAB with the big catch plate a third daisy or a modification of the second daisy (your badge on the right) ?

                    Hi Ak,

Both of these IAB's in the above compare have cut-out's between rifle and swas but on the left on it thinner than a piece of paper. The BM Hymmen doesn't.

As far as I'm concerned the zinker you posted is a later family member of the right one in my compare.

                      Hello Philippe,

that sounds logic, so we have the evolution from the buntmetall 2nd pattern daisy with cutout swaz to the zinc version with catch plate under hinge and catch.

                      Best regards, Andreas

That's correct but the zinkers also exist without the big rectangular hinge plate. The PAB's also come with two different type of wrap arround hinges but I'm not sure if this is the case with the IAB's too.
