          The scanner distorts colors with the harsh light. I will try to get the camera out for a more natural shot:

            And here it is with a camera in artificial light. Still, not as harsh as the scanner bulb right against it. I think I will do a seperate thread on the differences of how you photograph badges. That said, and yes I understand folks concerns, what do you think?

                  Now it looks better. That is just discolouration from the solder, not unusual on ÜÜs, it just looked extreme with the scanner.

                    Marc is touching here very interesting problem here. We have to remember one thing. Scanners were design to scan documents and pictures not the war badges. Scanners are using very aggressive light which is reflected at many different angles by badges irregular shapes and finish. In some situations this phenomena creates distortion and unreal images. I guess it is a good material to start the separate thread about it. Anyhow, to illustrate my point please check two pictures posted by me below. First is the Flak badge image recorded by the digital camera.
