Here are two PABs by A. Scholtze. One bronze and the other silver. I believe they are both good ones; but why is the silver one noticeably thicker than the bronze? I do not have a metric scale but my postal scales says the bronze one is 0.7 ounces while the silver one is 1 ounce. That's a big difference. The catches are slightly different as well. Can I get an opinion here? Are these both original (as I had thought)?

Hi Ken,
I agree with ryuuk, the silver one is a fake unfortunately, which would explain the differences you are seeing.
TomIf it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a littleNew Book - The German Close Combat Clasp of World War II

I will repeat what has been discovered about these AS in triangle badges.
There is absolutely no evidence to support the assumption that these were manufactured by the firm of Adolf Scholze.
One of our board members did research directly with the firm and was informed that the concern of Adolf Scholze only used the initials AS to denote it's products. This research extended to pre-war(WWII) manufacture.
If some new evidence exists that would bring validity to this assumption please share it. It would be welcomed.
