would love to share this excellent silver grade Assmann panzer badge with you.
The basemetal of this badge is cupal. It's in a very good condition with nearly all finish remaining.
In hand it's almost impossible to spot any of the cupal basemetal with the naked eye but under magnification there are a few spots where you can see it.
I tried to make it clearly on one picture taken from the side.
Weight of this badge is 11,26 grams. It's a tad lighter than other cupal Assmann pab's in my collection. Most of them are around 12
grams. This badge has the straight soldered hinge and a neatly soldered catch.
            Finish is well preserved.

Beautiful set Jelle. The eagle design on this Assmann bird is really something else: the best I have seen so far !

As for the copper of the cupal showing through...A lot of silver coloured cupal pieces have a silver coat plating over the cupal before the new silver finish (white wash-paint) is applied so even if there is slight wear to the outer finish it doesnt mean the underlying silver plating is compromised and the copper might not show. Attached are 2 new silver finished silvered cupal summer uniform birds of the same design. The top one is mint with 100% new silver finish except in the areas where it was deliberatly removed to highlight the detail (swaz, wreath upper wing ridges, beak, eye) The second one is an old war horse that is missing all the new silver finish but there is still a significant portion of the bird that retains the silver plating even if the copper is apparent in some areas were the silver plating has worn off

            Best

            JC
