        Stevo,
Doesn't matter who made it or who the the "well known" German dealer is. A well known fake regardless.

Its an original Rettenmaier for me, but very poorly cut out. This maker is known for hand-cut out badges like their Heer Flak badges, etc. and Kriegs badges, but there is some controversy if they continued production after the war. Normally I don't have any issues with Rettenamier badges, and the hardware on this example certainly is wartime compatible, however the cut out is very poorly executed and therefore I wouldn't necessarily want this example in my collection.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Interesting, the cut outs and finish threw me and it has fittings as if a zinc badge but looks like tombac.

John, I believe that is bronze finish remaining.

I agree with Ryuuk and Tom.Looks like a good Rettenmaier to me ("flat back"). IMO a bronze grade.

Ok guys, keep it civil. We all make mistakes. Its always best to do your own homework and take many opinions on an item.

You do and you just get cursed at.

Ease up with name calling Steve, honestly everyone makes mistakes. Both Chet and John are both very well respected members of the community.
now with people ruining the hobby, maybe have enough knowledge to have your own opinion before bagging other collectors.
This has to be one of the most disrespectful threads I’ve read in a while, in any case we all just try and help.

                              Hi guys,

I have issue and infraction to Steve for his uncivil tone and behavior.

Steve, we are all here to learn and enjoy the hobby, you asked for opinions because you weren't sure yourself what you were looking at. Everyone makes mistake, no need to be uncivil and disrespectful for guys that were simply trying to help you.
