Damage caused by plastic storage bag?

    Hey everyone,
I have a bit of weird question to ask regarding storage and whether or not this particular item was affected by storage or not. I got this infantry badge sometime ago, unfortunately around the same time I moved house so I wasn't able to properly examine it.
I left it in the same form of storage I recieved it in, but when finally taking a closer look I noticed a number of marks which I never saw in the original picture.
Therefore I am wondering are these marks caused by what form of storage I had or were they just there beforehand and I missed it.
The pictures below highlight the marks on the badge, the picture from the site I got it and the form of storage it was in. Sorry to ask such a weird and niche question, but I am just generally curious about it.

    Thank you!

Perhaps there was some moisture in the bag that caused some oxidation of the finish during storage?

Absolutely no weird question at all. Has happened to me many times. Sometimes my observations were real, sometimes (I think) I made them up since I'm hyper sensitive.
i try to control the climate of my rooms, use acid free pouches, this and that and still things happen. Just recently I noted spots on one of my super mint Godet Swords sets. I removed them from open display at once and they are now sealed away away from oxigen and light where they are doing well again.
As a lesson, I've removed all mint, rare badges from open displays just to conserve them in their mint state for generations to come.
For open display on mannequins e.g. I use 'regular' badges.
Anyway I could write pages and pages about this. Be sure you are not alone....

I think a mixture of moisture in the bag and also warm temperatures in storage could make the bag stick to the badge and cause a reaction.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

You also could purchase a badge which already had some troubles, and was cleaned before selling. During the storage, such "problematic" badges show their true face. Once I've owned a zink IAB with thick silvering and dark little spots. I've cleaned it for few times, but these ****ty spots returned again and again pissing me off.

Also this could happen if your badge in a plastic bag was on the sunlight for a long...

Yeah, this can happen, these packets are not good, get the ones that are chemical neutral, such as the ones that are used for postcards or coins.
