                Hi

The cutouts are not necessarily a problem.

Assman made a steel version that looks very similar to yours. As Frank H pointed out recently in a thread they always have an "A" on the reverse of the swas.
Yours is probably too corroded to see.

But the profile of your badge looks similar to my steel Assman.

I am sure one of the GAB boys will have a better idea.

                cheers

                Graeme

I would also say, that this badge "was" the hollow Assmann. Is it magnetic?
                  Cheers, Frank

Yes the badge is magnetic. I paid 15 euro for the badge last year. I cleaned it upp today, I'll post pictures tomorrow (it looks better now). So you are sure it's a hollow Assman version?

Well, based on what Graeme told you, YOU should already be sure. Look for a tiny Assmann logo "A" in the center of the reverse of the swastika. And yes, the design and the fact that it is magnetic leaves only Assmann as the maker. If it is not rotten away, you will find that small A. Look for it here:

When I cleaned away the rust on the back of the swastika the magical "A" appeared. You guys are really worth your money by recognizing this type so fast Here a pic how it looks now, i'am working on it with specialized equipment

This first pic. before, the last after (now)

What procedure did you use to clean it up?
