Maybe at sometime somebody just put this badge in that packet!

Before you make comparisons to the S&L GAB I found. That was not in a collection. It was given to me by the family together with the EK2 and black WB of the same guy.

Hello Skip,

perhaps you read the thread about the badge in the german forum. The collector who is the owner of this combo got it together from his source, so there is no difference in the finding.

I think it is very well possible that more companies than SHuCo produced with that die design. Very well possible that this is a Gottlieb & Wagner badge. One should keep it in mind and see what else turns up to bring this from theory to fact. Every puzzle piece counts and this is one of them.

True, has anyone ever seen one of these crimped "SHuCo's" marked as such. I cant recall ever seeing one with a mark.

Also, other companies using the SHuCo design or dies would explain those odd ball badges like the one in Yuri's article. Just thinking out loud

There is also a possibility that the Crimped in SH.u.Co in this thread is a replacement.

So far i haven´t come across any Crimped in SH.u.Co with a makermark and i doubt we´ll ever find one.

I beleave that the "Godet" SH.u.Co in Yuri´s article is made by SH.u.Co, based on the fact that it has the typical "bronze colour over the silver" finish. That´s a typical bronze feature for this maker. As for now the "21 in a small box" is one of a kind on this type of IAB.

Hans, believe it or not I had never noticed that unique way of finishing. I went back and looked at the 21 marked badge and sure enough there is silver under the bronze finish. Thanks for pointing that out

I think this IAB was made by Gottlieb & Wagner. Gottlieb & Wagner and S.H.u.Co. were from the same location " Oberstein " . I think SHuCo made the obverse die or someone made the die and makers who were in Oberstein shared this obverse die. The reverse part could be made by makers themselves. Some makers put their logo on, but someone didn't. So, they put their IABs in the packets with printed name of maker.

Indy, i see that the location theory has got to your mind. Do you have anything that points in the direction your stating?

Our forum member Peter has a nice and very good signature that says:"Beleaving is not knowing" and i think of that once in a while.

I wouldn´t be surprized that soon there will pop up unmarked badges by unknown makers in makermarked packets in mass and then this collecting business are at danger!
