<o>Here is a hollow PAB I am not sure about. I think it looks a little like the 1942 AWS type. </o>

            Dennis,
There is nothing wrong with this badge. It's a keeper! This type of PAB is often referred to as the "Wernstine design". It is shared by several makers known and unknown.

                  Hello Dennis,

Here's some scans of a hollowback PAB very much like yours that was determined to be fake on one of the forum threads( although I was unable to find it again ) I had saved these in my fake PAB files for future reference and hope that whoever posted them does not mind..I believe it was Philippe, but I could be wrong.

                      Guys,
Now that I have had a night to sleep on it and look at my files I belive Don is correct. There are no accepted hollowbacks with the Wernstine design. I should have done my homework before replying to Dennis's thread. Sorry...

                        I wanted to know

I wanted to know about this badge. I see that there are no hollow backs with the Wernstine design. I am unclear as to what that is? I understood that the design had to do with the grass and the rock in the foreground. I have seen some other hollow backs I though were Wermstine types. I am still learning

                          Hello Dennis,

When you compare any Wernstein PAB to a F&R/ BH Mayer PAB just look at the eagles head. It's very different on each badge..now the grass area however is pretty close Hope that helps alittle.

A not so uncommon fake and true, UP TO NOW, no original HOLLOW PAB with that design is known.
                            Cheers, Frank
