    L/53 Gab...

    Hi guys,

I aquired this piece from a well known dealer, and it arrived today.
It's a very minty thing, I assure you that, and (very) personally I don't really like it , I never handed a mint GAB, but it feels so glossy and even.
I would like to like it, could you guys give me some words on this one

    Thanks,
    Giel

Wasn't very smart to say that

Is the yellow thing at the catch normal?
      Kind regards,

Hi Giel, that eagle's head is ugly as hell but then again so are most people's kids and they keep them now don't they? Nice find. Ignore skip and send it to me.

            Hi Giel,

Stunning example. This is the best I managed to do when it comes to a L/53 GAB, but hé it's a Hymmen so you don't hear me complain

Indeed, its the best one I have ever seen. Do not be suprised if Frank does´nt ask for pictures for his book.

Ignore Don, he´s got more than enough to do with his PAB sickness.
If you send it to me I´ll tell you what that yellow is (looks strange, might be residue from the flux)

My example looks pretty much like Phils. Which dealer did it come from?

Wow thanks for the great replies

I agree about the head, what an ugly boy this is

Don and Skip, maybe I should better give it to Philippe or Frank, to avoid any conflicts between you guys
(no no, I'm keeping this one )

It came from Peter from WW2-militaria.com I like his site and his items, me and my brother often buy there

Nobody else knows what the yellow is?
                  Kind regards,
                  Giel

Giel as far as I'm able to see the "yellow" is just the buntmetall catchplate. Mine ones was yellow too but now it turned green, just like me after looking at your badge

That badge looks good to me. I could always use another one in my collection. Here is my L/53.

Here is the reverse. As for the L/53 design they did not do as good as job as other makers. It is indeed an ugly eagle. You can see this in the other badges that they made.

Looks like yours also has a minty touch. Nice GAB! Is the hinge resolded?

Boy, those semi-hollow Hymmens are even "uglier" than the unmarked stamped ones! (I love Hymmens )
