PAB in Bronze by Julius Bauer (code 43)

    Hi folks,

I would like to know if the PAB in bronze was made by Julius Bauer & Sohn, from Zella-Mehlis (makers mark 43). If so, could you post some good pictures of its both sides.

    Thanks in advance.

    GK.

I've yet to see one either. Presently it is not an accepted maker of PAB's. However, that could always change as a couple of new makers were discovered this past year (Franke & Co. & B.H. Mayer)

            Thanks for your replies, friends!
However, I do not have the Badge, but I´ll ask for some pictures to the current owner. I´ll post them here ASAP.

              Hi

              Hello,

It´s not the best one could expect, but here are some pictures of this Badge. I already asked for better pictures of this PAB, so be patient, ok?

Is it possible to say something?

              GK.

                  Hi Gene,

                  This is difficult.

My best guess woud be either the FLL design or the PAB that features the two strokes on the rock, by an unknown maker. However impossible to tell for sure base upon these crappy pics. Lets hope you get better ones.

From those fuzzy pictures it looks a bit like it has the same hinge, catch and mm than the IAB Philippe refered to...
                    Kind regards,
                    Giel

                        New Photos

                        Hi,

I manage to get two pictures of the PAB´s back. I think that these new pictures would help to solve this doubt. In my humble opinion, it looks OK.

I´d like to hear what you think.

                          Oh,

IMO looks like the same pin hinge, catch and makers mark.

                            Hi Gene,

What is the badge made of? The front photos almost look like Buntmetall (or perhaps even Kupal) through the wear... is the finish bronze?

                            Can you get a weight?

Are the small dots showing on the back corrosion? Not pits, right? I gather you don't have this in hand, so may not be possible to answer.

I've never seen one with that mark, but like Chet said ...

                            Regards,

                              Hi Gene,

As far as I'm concerned and although the obverse pic is very low quality, there is no doubt this badge features the FLL design.

                              Some points to focus on:

                              Eagles shape,
45° angled cut of the armor plate touching the wreath the the left
Deep cut out of the wreath band
                              Typical FLL Track shape
out of balance cut-out when viewed from the reverse.

Something just doesn't feels right about this PAB but it's difficult to pin point from these pics and without handing it. I also find it very strange that they even used the same catch positioning as the late war FLL's. As far as I know no other maker used this high up catch position on solid zinc PAB's which for me is another sign that they most likely tried to imitate an FLL as close as possible.

Gene do you think the seller could provide you with some measurements?

For me this is the late war FLL variant they used to make the above
