                Jon,

                I checked Forman's 3rd Edition, page 271, "Silver grey metal......" and Niemann's Second Edition, page 385, "Zinc, silvered.....". If your badge is brassy, it may be problematic.

                Also, if you look closely at the numbers on the reverse, they do have differences. I know it sounds critical, but this wouldn't be the first time that we were nit-picking serifs, or the lack there-of.

                More opinions???

                    If you look closely at my example, frame #14, it is readily apparent that the base metal is zinc. While little finish is left, the remaining silver wash jumps out.

                            I am not really familiar with those badges so what you get is nothing more than an opinion.
                            Frankly, I do not like your badge. My decision is based on the comparison to Mark's beleivable badge. I especially do not like the base metal in combination with the setup and that crackled pattern of the finish, especially noticeable on the reverse. This finish with the crackled pattern can be found on many earlier fakes.

                              Hi Jon,
                              I know nothing about these badges. I will comment on what Frank said about the crackle finish. I agree and don't like that finsih at all on your badge. I bought a fake Spanish Cross from Unique Imports around 1976 or so and it also had that same type of crackle finish. Just my .02 cents.

                                thanks guys, I appreciate any input here, and yes the finish does seem/feel 'weird'...
                                I've contacted Detlev about this one, but he's out of town until next week.
                                I'll let you know what he thinks on this too. Not a badge you see too much of, or to find out much about either
