Notice the difference in finish on the silver one compared to yours. The exact twin has a mat silver finish and yours features a plated obverse finish.

What I would like to known is if the plated finish AS PAB also exists with the other grass design. Maybe it's just a coincidence,it's something I just recently noticed but there seems to exist a link between the grass design and the finish.

Could you all please take a look at your silver AS in triangle PAB's to see if this is correct or the result me having to little reference material.
Reverse: also notice the cleary different scoop-out.

    Thanks in advance

    Philippe,

You are absolutely correct. The grass design is slightly different between these 2 PAB’s. The scoop-out from the reverse is just another small addition to the little differences between them. Yep, I have to get more PAB’s to complete the family!<o =""></o>

If I counted them correctly, I need to add: 1 silver PAB with hollow back, 1 bronze with semi hollow back, 1 silver and 1 bronze marked AS without triangle. So I need 4 more PAB’s to fill up the gap in the Scholze’s family tree….<o =""></o><o =""></o>

Do you notice that...the different grass patterns are reflected by different hinges. Robert's PAB in left has a ball hinge but in right has a ball hinge with a flat top, and they have different grass patterns. We can see Philippe's PABs(the first group) are the same type as the right one of Robert, and they have ball hinges with flat top.

        best regards

        Indy,
but all Philippe’s PAB's are with the flat top. Only mine, silver one is with the "full" ball hinge. So I guess, Adolf Scholze was using this “full” ball hinges randomly...<o =""></o>

          hi Robert

Look at the second group pictures which were post by Philippe. The right one looks like a ball hinge(we need philippe to tell us), and its grass is the same as yours in left.

          regards

            Indy,

I’m looking at the picture right now (second group) but the ball looks flat at top to me. But let’s wait for Philippe.<o =""></o>

                Hi Guys,

I'll have a look at the plated one as soon as I get home, but from the pic it looks flattened doesn't it. In fact apart from Robert's silver example the flattening of the ball hinge seems to differ from badge to badge. This could be an indication that some handwork was involved here, although I'm not sure I understand what the benefit of these flattened ball hinges in production could have been. Apart from keeping them from rolling off the table of course

@Mark, why don't you admit that your the biggest PAB maniac amongst us. Your just not ready to admit it to yourself but I'm confident that we won't have to wait very long before we witness your official "comming out"

                        Great PAB's Skip!
@Indy, I agree with you on the Skip badge. But still I would not connect this type of ball hinge to 2nd grass pattern only. In my opinion the different ball hinge was distributed randomly.<o =""></o>

                          Hi Guys,

Well Skip's silver badge for sure answers several questions at the same time.

First of all this grass pattern also exist with a silver white finish and secondly look at the scoop out: that is as or, almost as, pronounced as on the bronze one with the other grass pattern.

BTW the ball hinge on my plated variant is completely flattened
