Hi guys,
I started to look at the Vienna dies last month and due some extra time I have picked that up again.
The first one that really caught my eye was FO. I found some very consistent flaws in their die. The one that popped out most is the small gap line on the 8 O`clock oak leave. After looking at about 30 examples I have spotted it on nearly everyone with exception of the heavily worn pieces ,but this is to be expected. The flaw can be very clear, although this is not always the case. Important to note is that there basically is a double edge or gaped edge. Sometimes the outer oak leave isn`t as clearly defined, but looking closely you can still see the double edge. On other sharp looking examples you can see a flaw at 11 O`clock on the oak leave edge. Because most examples are worn in this spot and don`t show this very well I thought I would leave it out for now.
There are still some minor flaws I have spotted through out, but I have to check their consistency and differences with other dies. Interesting to note is that all these flaws appear near the Oak leave edges, which makes it quite difficult to find it consistently.
Best regards, Job
