    Sos pab (e-i-e-i-o:-)

    Pursuant to my other thread regarding the CCBs, My same friend picked up this Assman PAB. It looks like it should be OK but that's just me; the non-badge fellow....

    I photographed it from a slightly side view so it looks more narrow but the telling points show better.

    Could I prevail upon you guys one more time to check this one out and see if it's OK?

              ......Definitely not Assmann as mentioned before.
              It is also NOT Adolf Scholze.
              The Adolf Scholze firm exclusively used the initials A.S. for marking the wares produced and marketed by them during the Second World War
              At this time the panzerkampfabzeichen of your friend's is simply known as A.S. in triangle.

              Just talked to a Hr. Gottstein who has worked for Adolf Scholze the last 40 years and is now going into pension. He also investigated into the firms past history and told me a few details about the founding of the company in early 1900. Nowadays they are more technical design but also deliver stuff to the automobil industry
              There logo is, and always has been "A.S."

              Guys,

              just finished talking with Hr. Gottsteins son. They looked very carefully at this logo and even did some research around other firms in their area. Nobody has seen, or knows who this logo belongs to.
              The son also confirmed that Scholze has only ever used the "A.S." logo on their products.
              So back to the drawing board on the AS in triangle.

You may be correct to say that we aren't 100% sure that Adolf Scholze is the maker behind "AS in Triangle" marked badges, but discoveries in the last few years have pointed to the most likely maker being Scholze. One such piece of evidence is this half-finished PAB planchet found near the old Adolf Scholze factory as presnted by our member pavels_2005.

                  Another piece of evidence is Adolf Scholze was a confirmed maker of CCCs, and there is identical reverse hardware setup to be seen on these "AS in Triangle" badges.

                  These are circumstantial connections that point to Adolf Scholze, but the bullet proof smoking gun is still to be found. The current theory is Adolf Scholze was likely the maker "AS in Triangle". Another strong theory is that AS in Triangle was a consortium of several Gablonz makers, and Adolf Scholze was a major player that consortium.

                    It is my opinion that it is still premature to identify Adolf Scholze as the manufacturer of AS in triangle.

                    Since representatives of the firm of Adolf Scholze declared that A.S. was the only manufacturing mark associated with their firm I don't see that this could possibly be considered irrelevant however dated it is. Even the dated research conducted by local individuals directly involved in The Adolf Scholze firm left no definitive answers for the AS in triangle maker mark.

                    Pavel who lives in the former Gablonz declared that it is only his opinion that AS in triangle is most likely associated with Adolf Scholze. I agree that the search for the manufacturer of AS in triangle has definitely been narrowed down to to the former Gablonz region. I have the utmost respect for Pavel and his diligence in seeking direct evidence to connect the two together. I sincerely hope he, or anyone, can discover the identity of the still unknown manufacturer of AS in triangle.

                    For the sake of accuracy I will agree to disagree concerning the identity of AS in triangle.

                      Good to see you finally managed to find the good stuff Ken, every helmet collector turns at some point

                      Nice piece, AS in triangle / Adolf Scholze, this can be an endless discussion. But if we don't give our children names, we will never get anywhere
