Few more Heer pickups from the SOS

    Hi guys,

Here are my other Army badge pickups from the SOS in addition to the GABs posted earlier.

First up are two bronze IABs. Both relatively uncommon R.S.S. and MK in Triangle. Both in decent condition, especially the MK in Triangle with the nice deep bronze finish on high quality zink basemetal typical of Gablonz-based makers.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Also picked up a nice bronze PAB by Hermann Aurich. Decent bronze finish remaining on this one and the price was right so I snapped it up. I really enjoy studying the intracate hinge on these Aurich's, and the quality of the crimping of both hinge and catch. Common to find in the silver grade which I already own, so nice to pick up its bronze brethren to complete the family.

Last but certainly not least is this super rare CCC variant by Wilhelm Hobacher! This is the only known variant of its kind and is shown in the CCC book at Hobacher variant 10.2, page 324-325. What makes it remarkable is that it is a classic Hobacher clasp, clearly made on the Hobacher dies and backplate crimping, but it utilizes a Deschler style catch, hinge and pin. It is the only variant of its kind that I know of and the owner was kind enough to allow me to feature it in the book. When he notified me that he would be willing to part with it, I took the opportunity to snap it up and add it to my CCC collection. Not the best looking clasp, with only about 30% of its original bronze finish remaining, but 100% complete with intact backplate and no repairs; its rarity making up for any aesthetic shortcomings.

Hope you guys like these as much as I do, very happy with my SOS this year. Thanks for looking.

        Tom

Some good looking bronze pieces Tom. That RSS crossed my mind to but I decided the leave it, its quite a nice one I must say. Looks better here than the pics I got from Darko
The price was good to, congrats on these fine pieces.

              Best regards, Job
