Close Combat Badge - advice please.

    Hi All,
Many years ago when I was collecting I aquired this medal along with several others in a batch of five or six. From what I can discover is looks like a fake - I'm certainly not a medals person, so to be 100% sure I thought I would ask as I have with the others. If it is a fake what are the bad points? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Terry

Hi Terry, I can only agree a common fake unfortunately.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

In this case its pretty easy since its marked for JFS, so you can compare it to known original JFS clasps and you can see plenty of differences like obverse design, base metal, wrong marking shape and style, incorrect pin, hinge, catch, etc. All wrong and easy to see when you know what an original JFS clasp looks like.

A search for "JFS CCC" on the forum will show you plenty of original clasps you can use for comparison, and I think there is even a good book or two on the market that shows originals in great detail

                Folks,
Tom does a very good work in his CCC book. I read the first edition as well as the second edition.
I just extract 2 small pictures( I hope not violating the copy right) showing what the genuine piece should looks like without going into too detail.
But still you need this book and read. It is worth every penny!
