Hi Everybody. I am looking for some opinions regarding authenticity of this Spanish Russian volunteers medal complete with miniature. The ribbon and suspension ring look post war. I don't think it is of German manufacture, so hoping it might be Spanish made.

Thanks for the reply. I knew about the ribbon, but that isn't always the end of the world, so long as the award is original. It seems to be a tricky one as I have posted it on another forum and nobody could say whether it is genuine or not. Personally, I think it is one of the Spanish made awards as it does look very different to the Deschlers which are usually zinc and show the rivets on the helmet.

It’s not a deschler then it’s either a fake or one of those commemorative pieces,
It’s likely the medal is as old as the ribbon probably post 1980
I found one of these and my example has lost its finish
Here’s some original ribbon

Thank you gentlemen. I read somewhere that although Deschler was the only German manufacturer of this award, production was also done by war time Spanish manufacturers. My example doesn't have the typical barrel shaped post war suspension ring which the above example displays. So who knows, is it fake or war time Spanish manufacture?

On this link (in German) you will see that two further contracts were awarded to companies other than Deschler. Unfortunately, they are not named and how can we prove the validity of anything on Wikipedia
