Picked up some of these well known fake pieces and thought I'd take and share some better pics than we normally see.

The fake 1st Okt. case looks quite crude when sat next to an original like this, but on it's own it would probably fool many inexperienced new collectors.

Front, both medals have what appears to be nice original ribbons and original ribbon pins.

Better maker mark on this one, appears to be the same on both.

These would make good boxing medals, what with the broken noses on the figures, maybe not with them being naked though LOL.

It blows me away that someone would fake even these! It's discouraging for the collector. Somewhere else it was mentioned that a dealer thought that 90% of what's on the market, is probably fake. I find that astounding. Good thing we have a safe haven here!!

Thanks for showing these side by side detailed scans, etc ... in this way we can educate ourselves, etc ...

I would believe the person who claimes that 90 % of the stuff around is rubbisch , come and visit a Belgium military show and you wil be convinced => much crap , etc .... but in the end a educated collector can prevent himself from being burned => so every serious collector , come and join us

Take a peak at the beaks

A good way to tell these fakes is by the noses of the two figures. They are much larger than on originals.

Not only are the noses too big but what's up with the Mr. Spock ears on the guy with the flag? I've also tended to notice that many originals of the Oktober 1 medal do not have very much facial detail.
