Luftschutz-Ehrenz. 2.Stufe-for review

This is the standard zinc made Luftschutzmedal 2nd Class. What puzzles me here is the suspension ring. Its finishing shines like nickel plated. Was this type of rings used for Luftschutzmedals or is it a replacement for the lost one?

Mine looks exactly the same as yours. Your medal also looks like the aluminium version,you might check the weight to be sure.

Thank you very much for your comment. I am glad to know that the ring is OK.
My medal is very thin. It has ca. 2mm rim. Unfortunately, it never came to my mind to weight it. I was always thinking that those pieces with "fat" numbers "1938" were made of aluminum, others with thin numbers were made of zinc. But, I could be wrong. On the other hand. my medal leaves the traces on the paper, like a pencil.

None of mine have that shiny (probably magnetic ?) type of suspension ring … either Zinc (32g) or Aluminium (16g).

I checked mine again. It's non magnetic. And it looked shiny in bad light,but under a bright light it looked more like Ian's.

Here's a group shot of all mine ... Zinc (all ring-stamped) and Aluminium (none are marked) .. and they all have the same size and style of dull, non-magnetic ring.

Very nice collection, Ian. Thank you, Guy, for info about your ring.
My ring is not magnetic too. Here I show my all three medals with case and envelope, The one with envelope is marked "60". the ones with case and with shiny ring are not marked.
"Shiny" one goes as the first, then envelope and "60" and on the very end: case and non marked one. All rings are non-magnetic.
