Spanish Cruz de Guerra-questions

Could the cross presented in this post be awarded before the year 1942, or is it much later production?
This cross came together with the blue case with the Spanish coat of arms. Has this case anything to do with the Cruz de Guerra or is it just addition to protect the cross?

A cross very similar to the Egaña made ones but with rounded pin instead flat.
Maker well could be Saz made and this be its original box

My used and abused Egaña piece … note the red berries … this one has a replaced pin.

Thank you very much, Francisco and Ian, for the additional information and the image of the Civil War period piece.
My item came with the document group of the LC member, who was also awarded Spanish Cross in Gold. He was missing in action since October 1942. As, my decoration was most probably fabricated much later, so it was simply added to the group to make it look it more attractive. Now, I have to find a proper type...
On the other hand, I am glad that my decoration and the case may match.
