    SA sportabzeichen in bronze interesting variant

    Hello Collectors,

    I have picked up this very interesting SA sportabzeichen, with a Marine emblem attached. What could this be ? A interesting way to have the medal denazified ?

      FWIW, there's one similar to this in the old J.R Angolia reference, Political & Civil Awards of the Third Reich. The author conjectured it may have been for Marine units of the SA & NSKK, but offered no objective evidence for that. The example shown in the book wasn't by W.Redo, and had the anchor as an integral part of the stamping of the badge, not as a separate, added piece.

        Thanks Scott, I recently bought this piece as part of larger grouping of awards (all period correct original pieces, but no connection between them)

        The marine emblem has been seperate attached, but it is very well done and could very well be period and factory done. Whatever the case may be it is a interesting piece !
