Hello Ken,

From the pictures, I would say that the medal is original. Check the piece with a magnet. Most of these medals, but not all, were struck from steel. Here are some pictures of one for comparison.

it might be just me or might be different manufactuares but the eagles head looks different then my to and tyanacek's head, but i wouldnt count it a fake yet

the main thing im looking is the beak area the 2 i have one is with case the other is courtmounted they both have the same beak and they match tyanacek medal

Without a doubt, several different firms would have produced these medals so there a bound to be slight differences in the details and lettering. As I mentioned earlier, most of these were struck in steel, although some are buntmetall.

Here is mine...I always regarded this as a faker.. I also was under the impression that very few of these were even awarded. Take a look at mine..the numerals are different than the 4 examples shown and also it is non-magnetic..hope this helps a little..Robert
