There are no experts on these I do not think. I will not make any pronouncement of authenticity but from what I remember there are Spanish made ones and German made ones. With "Spanish" manufactured pieces there is always a chance of it being "post war" as I believe they still make these (as do fakers).

The ones that I have had my hands on have all been made of zinc and have had varying degrees of finish loss which from what I remember is indicative of period German manufacture.

            Hello Ken,

This medal looks like a crude, cast fake to me. It does not look like a Spanish-manufactured piece, and I agree with fknorr that the German-made version should be in zinc.
            Best regards! Tom

Hi Ken, I would agree with Tom's comments about this medal. Mine is zinc.

              Cheers, Ade.

This medal looks actually fine to me. Even the zink German version of this medal was not too crisp in its detail.

After the war the Spanish Government manufactured this medal in a brass or bronze look with a rounded ball to the ribbon ring. This medal hasnĀ“t any maker mark.
Has your medal any maker mark in the ring?

                  Regards from Spain!!

to me the loop for the suspension ring looks to thick for a german example, and it is not the spanish loop as that is barrel shaped
                    regards gaz
