Ost medal 76 - Post war paint work?

    Hello collectors.

This is my first OM that I bought nearly 20 years ago. I haven't thought much of it over the years but with more third Reich collecting knowledge you start to see what you didn't see back in the days.

I'm wondering if this fine Ernst L. Müller type has been post war painted? Or is it just a "Monday" version with sloppy paint work?

The part of the ribbon ring has some silver paint leftover on it, there is a paint under the helmet and on the stick grenade.

Pictures are taken in good daylight. What do you guys think?

Looks like a little bit of both.

OMs were not "painted" underneath the helmet or the grenade.
That is added on later IMO, and as you implied, but the rim and some of the helmets coating looks good to me.

The newer finish should "stain" or come of with nail polish remover =)

But when I look at it again, on the CPU it does not look to bad actually, did it rub of? =)

The silver effect went off when I rubbed it with q-tip and nail polish remover.

It only went off under the helmet and on hand grenade, not on the helmet and the circle rim. I just continued and removed the silver effect. Looks better imo.

I guess someone painted with silver paint under the helmet and on the hand grenade sometime after the war, thought it would look cool that way

              Well there you go.

Like I thought in my first post, some original and some added paint.
              A little bit of both.

I agree, looks better now, just as it should be =)
