research of a HUGE ribbon bar help?

    Hello all,

Can anyone take a stab at identifying these awards? How would I go about researching the original owner? Surely this can't be too common of a combination. If anyone can help tell his story through the ribbon bar, please do.

    thank you!

Is the stripe on ribbon #4 black or dark green? If it's black, then it's the Knight's Cross of the Württemberg Crown Order.
I ask this because the swords-device on this ribbon is typical of the kind used on Württemberg bars.

Is the stripe on ribbon #4 black or dark green? If it's black, then it's the Knight's Cross of the Württemberg Crown Order, not an Ernestiner. I ask this because the swords-device on this ribbon is typical of the kind used on Württemberg bars.

Determining the color of this stripe is very significant if you are serious about wanting to do research on this bar. The Duke of SC&G was handing-out Ernestiners left and right until about 1934 at which point Hitler told him to put a lstop to it. So there are many people wearing Ernestiners by the 1930's.

People who were awarded the Knights Cross of the Württemberg Crown Order, however, are an exclusive bunch. Your bar was updated with the Hindy around 1934-35 and there were very few uniformed, active-duty officers in the mid thirties who were entitled to wear this extremely prestigious Württemberg award. So this ribbon is your key to fast-tracking your research into the bar's original owner, in conjunction with the BMVO3XmK and HOH3X of course.

The bar was definitely made by Godet. It features one of the few types of Nadelsystems used by Godet, a light gray Uniformtuch backing, and the distinct sharp-angled, bold stitch used by Godet. I have the sense it may have been updated by Godet around 1935 with the Hindy and two LW-DA's.

          Good luck with your research!

            4) is Württemberg Crown Order - Knights Cross with Swords
            5) is Hessen Bravery Medal

This bar should definitely be IDable.

I dont think he served in the Navy in WW1. General Staff seems more likely.

William, that's quite a medal bar. Amazing piece of history being represented in one strip.
