Peter,

I know that you have your doubts and certainly it’s always better to buy a Deschler but there are still things that I like about this cross and we know that there were several makers.

Just my opinion.

Thanks for your input, something rarely seen when I post on the various forums.

The following was posted on “the other forum” 8 days ago:
“This type of cross has been discussed for several years and as can be seen in the enclosed thread, been viewed with sceptisism. Now it is presented both here and on WAF with no reservations about originality, hence my initial inquiry. Has something significant happen since 2015 or are we as collectors merely lazy (or God forbid indifferent)? I’m not updated on the features of the crosses from the various producers, but several features on the piece we discuss seem noteworthy, at least that’s what my gut-feeling tells me.

Besides the imperfection on the top left swastika (typical for the Deschler cross), the pale nuance of the gold colour has been mentioned. The actual shape of the oakleaves is significantly different and the pebbling inside the cross appears to be too distinct. I know images can be deceiving, but the ribbon ring appears to have the nuance of shiny steel (or chrome).” Total silence followed.

Yes, there were several producers of the TD decoration and possibly of the “Treue Arbeit” as well. Unless an assumed producer of this specific type made only the “50” version, I would expect other “25” and “40” crosses with the same features to surface. In order to simplify this discussion, has any one encountered a “25” or”40” cross with the very distinct pebble pattern seen on this cross? All other crosses I’ve seen (including the “50”) have featured a pattern similar to the surface of the moon.

Peter,

I don’t particularly like the pebbling either but assumed it was just the bad photos.

Otherwise I think it looks OK but personally would always choose a Deschler.
