Hi Guys,
Only a two-placer, but I found this one at the Perrysburg Show yesterday. Although it is by no means my favorite style of medal bar, I do like it because of the condition. Both long-service medals are iron while the eagle devices are both non-magnetic. All the mounting hardware (to include the pin, hinge, catch, hanging hooks, and backplate) has the appearance of brass, although everything is actually iron with a gilt finish. Be careful of any medal bars that have backplates made of brass (especially when it comes to wartime medal bars of the Third Reich Period). Backplates of the Third Reich Period were made from zinc or iron. Brass was needed for vital, wartime production, not for assembling medal bars.
Best regards,
Tom
