Bronze Merit Medal of the German Eagle Order

I'm not 100% sure about the authenticity, but I'm no expert on these.

It does however look like it's been sanded down on the front & back.
Definitely not standard wear!

Do you really believe somebody would sand down a medal to simulate wear? This looks like honest zinc oxidation/wear to me...certainly more than you normally encounter on the zinc eagle order medals.

I don't know John, I've seen people do crazy things to try & pass off a fake!

Not saying that I think this is necessarily a fake one, but look how the detail in the eagles chests & wreaths appear almost flat or "sanded down". I think this wear pattern goes abit beyond your standard Zinc ox wear.

Of course just my opinon though.

I do not like the lack of details on this medal, and I would also say that it really have a strange "sand"down look to the higher points!?!

Hello Andy,

From the pictures, I would say that this an original Eagle Order Medal of Merit. I like the look of it. It does look like some of the detail is lacking, but those light gray areas of oxidation look very consistant with what I have seen on many original zinc badges and medals. It takes on a lighter gray, almost plastic-like look. It does look like someone tried to polish this medal, thinking that zinc can be made to shine like silver, and in so doing, wore down some of the detail. I do believe this medal is genuine though, and I would buy it if the price was right. In my opinion a .

This medal is, without a doubt original 100%, which seems wearing down, are not it. He is typical in some zinc medals and arises by the resorption of the silver bath. For my 100% are original
