    Horse Drivers Badge

    Dear All,

I just got this Horse Driver Badge and am not sure of the period. Going by the design it should be the first one. The pin looks post war though. So would that be a 1957 piece or were these use after the war?

    Thanks and best regards,
    Al

As I know things the awards with the 'R' at the bottom are 1939 awards.

I don't know much about these but I have a 1939 version purchased from Herr Niemann and a 1957 version currently in the post from the E-Stand. When it arrives I will post both so we can compare the two.

As I remember the 1957 version, it is of a very good quality and marked the same on the rear as the 1939 version. The main reason I purchased it was to see if the same die had been used (with the 'R' removed) for the 1957 and 1939 awards. A long shot but something to do on a wet autumn afternoon.

        Regards ...

I think that's a great initiative. Spending money to establish a possible connection that could be benefitiary for the whole collector's community .
I'm interested to see the outcome of your comparison.

            Thanks guys,

The question I had and still have is whether this is a 1957 version of a pre 1945 badge or wether this is a ligit post 1945 badge. Anybody know?

            Thanks,
            Al

              Hi Peter,

Will do the comparison if the badge turns up from Australia before the weekend as I will need the light to take photo's etc - it's autumn here now.

              Regards ...

                Hi Albert,

Your Horse Driver badge in thread #1 is (in my opinion) a 1957 version of the pre May 1945 badge.

It looks to be of good construction and as such, of early 1957 manufacture.

                Regards ...
