    Africa Campaign - Type 4?

    Hello,
I believe this one is a type 4, at least to my eyes. What do you all think?
    Thank you,
    Dale

A very, very nice 'Type 4' with the original ribbon.

    Congratulations, Ian.

Thanks, Ian. I'm glad to finally have found a Type 4, as two of the ones I already have are Type 2.3 and one I posted a couple of days ago looks to me like a 2.3 as well. If you can look at that one here - http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru....php?t=976192- and tell me what you think I will greatly appreciate it.

Hi Dale, I don't have access to Antonio's book but it's a 'Type 2' of some variety.

        Sorry.

        Ian

Sorry missed these on the first go around but as the guys say a type 4. Besides the "de marchis", the type 4 can often be identified by the ribbon. See how when they fade the red stripe makes a kind of red and white checkerboard? I've only ever seen that ribbon on the type 4.
Great medal and love the ribbon Dale! I have a couple that I, too wished still had their pins.

Well, I can't take credit for that observation. Member Hardaway (Mathias) mentioned that to me a couple of years ago and I've been watching ever since. Here's a group shot my medals, and one of the 3 and 4 together. It's pretty easy to tell the 4 without even looking at the details on the medal.
