Help with strange ring

Inside this silver ring is engraged the motto: "Ich atme tief und ohne Angst", which in English stands for: "I breath deeply and without fear". Is anyone familure with this saying? Is it a motto of some sort? The ring itself has no outward military or Nazi insignia.

Hi Gerd,

Yes, it can be opened. The hidden compartment is the right size for a pill. The ring came from a WWII US Army vet. The story that came with the ring is that it came from a high ranking Luftwaffa officer.

When i read abot this ring i remembered a dicussion about Görings medals, where his missing ring is brought up.

I am not saying this is Görings but i see a resemblance, check out for you self.

Interesting thread! It would be fortunate if I had Herman's ring. However, given that it's only made of silver and not gold, it does not appear to be the sort of ring such an extravagant man would have owned.

BTW, I have heard of two or three similar poison rings with the same motto engraved inside. At least one of them has the same top and the same dragons on the sides. Whatever the history of this strange ring, it is not the only one. And so, the mystery of this item still vexes me.

Ring

These rings come up from time to time. In fact, there was one identical to this on eBay back in the winter. Can't offer much more than that it is not unique, but seems to have been something more generally available to those who felt the need.
