    Luftschutz medal - advice needed

    Hi Guys,

I have this Luftschutz medal, 2nd Class, I think it's the light-weight aluminium type. However, the loop on the top of the medal disc is twisted so the medal does not hang properly. Should I try and twist the loop back using pliers or is this likely to break the loop and detach the medal? I would really appreciate advice on this - so should I try and twist the loop or is it best to leave it alone?

Many thanks for looking and for all advice,

    Best regards,

    Guy

    Hello,

I believe you will regret an attempt to straighten it. It looks weak in the area of the twist from the reverse side picture.

    Regards,

I would not twist it back because of the possibility of it breaking it. Worth much more like it is than broken. You can always sell it and upgrade.

          I agree.
It would almost be a miracle to bend this back straight without breaking it!

Definately leave it alone, it would be worthless when snapped off but still has some value as it is.

Thanks Guys for the good advice - I will definitely leave it alone and regard the twist as part of its charm.

              All the best,

              Guy

                Best leave as it is

Do not attempt to straighten it.

very nice medal. Ring has at least something to say. I would leave it as well, however fixing would not be difficult though (heat in oven and slowly straighten).
