Opinions on 18 and 25 year whermacht service awards

I picked these up the other day and I was wondering the authenticity of them? The 18 year is maker marked L13, the 25 year is unmarked as far as I can tell. Y'alls opinions are welcomed.

          Hi Kenny,

Just a beginner with very limited knowledge; hopefully someone that really knows their stuff like Wayne (Bytown) will step in

My non magnetic (tombac) 25 year looks as if it comes from the same die as yours but the medal ring is of the thin round welded type instead of wide like yours. The arms of the 18 year magnetic cross are plain (no texture) on mine but yours does look to have texture (at least on the front) so I find this a bit odd. I only know about iron (magnetic) and tombac (non-magnetic) Wehrmacht LS crosses but maybe they made some in zink also ? (which would also be non magnetic) and could explain the texture on the 18 year cross and the thick medal ring on both pieces

          Regards

          JC

I can't say I like either one of these crosses.

The 2 crosses are of a type that you would like to have in hand as the pictures are not that crisp.

The 18 year appears to have something going on with the finish on the arms.
They should be smooth without any ripples or waves.

Maker of L/13, is Paul Meybauer. Marked crosses are rare. I do not know if this maker produced long service medals

The 25yr the border edges on the cross arms are uneven. Stippling is weak.

I have two 25yr crosses made from what they call Kriegsmetall. Non magnetic and soaks up the gold finish so that the crosses are completely grey black like zinc. The only gold finish left is on the ribbon ring.

            Possible cast fakes.

This is just my opinion and I could be completely off base about these 2 crosses.

If I saw these on a website for sale I would pass as there are better around.

Meybauer did make Long service medals.

Any chance of some sharper photo's?

The 25 year cross wouldn't be for me ... the irregular borders are not a good sign.

Look at the ribbons- they both look like they have come from Faithful Service Crosses. That isn't a good sign...
