Award Paperweight - Opinion needed

Hey guys...

I grabbed this a couple of weeks ago. From photos, it looks legit, as does the engraving. It came out of South Africa, which bothers me a bit, as there are a lot of repro items being sold on ebay from a guy in SA.

Now that it is in m hands, I am not sure.

Any thoughts?

Probably original because a faker would have chosen a wartime date and not a peacetime date,
