Fantastic signature display there mate !

    Thanks Ian

You too ? Yes, my friend: same guy! Not very kind but my english isnt sophisticated enough to "put it" another way: I feel a bit better now knowing I'm not the only one that got ... And, judging from the size of that Memel ribbon roll (and the others that accompanied it!) and how long that the sales thread lasted I dont think we were the only two either

Ribbons, like mushrooms and voters (for politicians) should always be kept in the dark but should your repro ribbon fade as well let me know I have more

    Take care

Those single mounts make a really nice representation of the different medals; very nice!

        Hi Ian and JC,
I also bought a single medal length of the Memel ribbon and one each for the Blue Division and KVK2 as well. All came from the Dutch seller you are referring to. Sad to hear about the Memel ribbon, but do either of you remember if the other two types he sold were bad as well? They all looked good to me at the time and I'm so rushed these days I don't have time to dig them out and post photos.
        Thanks,
        Dale

Very much appreciate the learning I got from this thread.

My summary is that both the medal and ribbon are original, though the ribbon is not the 30mm size. It does not mean it wasn't presented this way or that it is a fake...since variations can occur.
          Hi Wiking44,
I also wonder about confirmation of your statement. It's a little unclear to me as well, though I think they are saying the original ribbon is not a fake.

            Hey Stepdale!

I have had 'offline' conversations with some of the contributors to this thread and others. I'm pretty certain the ribbon in the first picture is an original. It's just not the 30mm size you would normally see.

                Hi Dale,

Welcome to the club Dale! A few more members and it might be worth contemplating a membership pin!

No expert on the matter and I cant speak about your KVK II or Blue Division ribbons because I didnt buy any of those but IMO the two 24cm lenght of Memel I got from that source were "wooden nickles" as were the three 24 cm lenghts of cornflower blue long service award and the 24 cm lenght of civilian issue EK II 1914 I bought at the same time. They all have the straight edges Ian shows in his last post instead of the correct rounded loop edges in the attached picture

Not making an issue out of this or blaming anybody but myself: too good to be true (in this day & age) usually is so I should have been smart enough to insist for close-ups

                Regards

                JC

That sums up my thoughts exactly JC ... I realised immediately I should've known better. It just adds to the bad feeling I'm developing about the hobby though.

I remember that thread the dealer posted showing those off before they went to the e-stand. So all those rolls were bad?

I am wary of this dealer now.

Thank you very much, just wanted to be sure I understood correctly!

Thanks Ian and JC, now I know to be much more careful with this dealer.
