Last week I was checkin another medal with my UV light and this ribbon shined A LOT
My question is: Is just the ribbon or the whole set is crap?

hrrmm... sorry to say, but i dont like it

firstly the surface of the cross are too harsch/raw
and second the surface around the cross are polished in a way that looks like a simple sportsmedal from yesterday...

but if it is a copy it is a really good one!

              heres mine:

                Hi!!!
                Maybe they´re from different materials.
Even a cheap medal like this could be faked? And the mark on the ring?

                Thanks,

                Ricky

Well, lets say, i just have a bad feeling about this one..
-Why did the maker polish the medal in that way? the only medals i have seen with that kind of polishing is some sportsmedal just 10 years old..
-I dont really like the relief of the text at the rear, is it the flash or is the text so shiny?
-I do like the makers mark, but i have no idea of who is the maker..

But hey!! -dont bin it, just not yet..

                    .

                    Mine for comparison:
                    Attached Files
At Rathau on the Aller, the CO of 5th Royal Tanks advanced on foot to take a cautious look into the town before his tanks moved in. He encountered one of his own officers, a huge Welshman named John Gwilliam who later captained his country's rugby team, 'carrying a small German soldier by the scruff of his neck, not unlike a cat with a mouse.' The Colonel said: 'Why not shoot him?' Gwilliam replied in his mighty Welsh voice: 'Oh no, sir. Much too small.'

                        Hello all!

The maker mark is 21 for Gebr. Godet & CO. Berlin
Andy from the other forum has posted his "marked 21" medal, and it seems very similar to mine...

                        Don´t you think so?

                        Thanks

                          hmm.. i'm somewhat puzzled here...
if you compare yours with andya´s medal on axis, there is some similarities, and then if you compare mine and David C's medal, again there are some similarities..
-do we have two different makers here or are any of our DRK's fakes/repros? well.. i'm not really sure here...

                            Hi!

As you know, the same medal was made by different makers. I was just curious to see a medal with the same maker like the one I have, so I clearly can see the similarities between them. In my opinion, all the medals pictured in this topic are good. The Social Welfare Medal is not the most popular item between the collectors, so it´s a little bit hard to spot a repro or somoene shout "good" or "bad". Try with a DKiG...

IMO all in this thread shown medals are real.

                              best,
                              Gerd
