Well at least I got something right Tom.I bought this along with the fake Krim you reviewed both from the same dealer. The guy is very trustworthy and I have been buying from him for years but I know mistakes can happen.I also quite like the Kuban and now considering another luft Narvik if the dealer still has it.If he has I will post some pictures if I buy it.

Wise would be to post Narvik for review before you buy

I agree and in normal circumstances I would do this now and consult fellow members
here however I shall be going to the fair in May-return the fakes and have a good look at the Narvik with a loup this time.Any identifying features I should look-out for for a fake Narvik?

            Hi Troy,

Familiarize yourself and study the details of all the original types of Narvik Shields. The following link is to an excellent thread by Pascal, that shows all the different types of originals. If the shield you are intending to purchase does not match to any of the ones in this thread, I would avoid it.

Beware of the "low 4" fake (it is also sometimes called the "small 4" fake). An example of it is shown in this thread:

            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=714420

Study this fake carefully as it is pretty convincing and is also one of the most frequently encountered fakes of the Narvik Shield. Also type in "low 4 Narvik" or "small 4 Narvik" into the search box and you should find some more examples of this fake.

            Best regards,
            Tom

Thats an excellent thread and one I shall be looking at again. The low 4 then refers to the position of the 4 in relation to the right side of the nearest edelweiss leaf? This is something new to me and non of my reference books mention such valuable information.I'm always wary of the shields but armed with good knowledge and back-up from experts on here I can avoid costly mistakes in the future. Thanks once again for all your expertise.
