Nice find, Laurence!...I always did think the mothers medal was one of the nicest looking of the german medals!.....Didn't they make cased silver grade ones, also?

I believe so. I think Al P has a cased one in silver, although I think there is some contention as to weather the case is real, or a silver placed in a gold case.
